Company History

1917 The late Kenzo Morita founded the Morita Pharmaceutical Company, which become the first to manufacture hydrofluoric acid in Japan.
1920 The products produced in Japan were expanded to sodium fluoride and ammonium fluoride.
1933 Started manufacturing aluminum trifluoride within Japan.
1935 November 4. The company was reincorporated from a partnership corporation to a joint-stock corporation forming MORITA CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES CO., LTD.
1937 A Tokyo field office (currently our Tokyo branch) was established.
1960 Construction of the Kanzakigawa Plant began this year. The production facilities of our former headquarters (Higashiosaka City Choudou) were moved sequentially, and the relocation of the manufacturing division was completed in 1968.
1970 In August, construction began on industrial land acquired in the coastal industrial region of Word 6 in Sakai for production facilities that could produce aluminum trifluoride (15,000 tons/year) through the implementation of foreign technology. It was completed in June, 1971.
1972 In February, the second stage of construction began at the Sakai Plant of production facilities that could produce hydrogen fluoride (17,000 tons/year). It was completed in May, 1973.
1983 The semiconductor chemicals manufacturing wing was completed at the Kanzakigawa Plant.
1991 An analysis center and development wing was completed at the Kanzakigawa Plant.
1993 Large-scale container filling facilities with an automated delivery system for semiconductor chemicals was introduced at the Kanzakigawa Plant.
1994 New FL-7 production facilities were introduced at the Kanzakigawa Plant.
1995 The semiconductor chemicals division of the Sakai Plant acquired the ISO 9002 certification.
1996 The Lithium hexafluorophosphate manufacturing wing was completed at the Kanzakigawa Plant.
Our central office was moved to 3-19-3, Toyosaki Kita-ku, Osaka City.
1999 Factory automation facility for manufacturing hydrogen fluoride at the Sakai Plant was completed.
The scope of ISO 9002 certification for the Kanzakigawa Plant was expanded.
2001 October: The Sakai Plant acquired ISO 9001 certification.
2002 January: The wing for manufacturing highly pure calcium fluoride was completed at the Sakai Plant.
September: Our central office was moved to 3-5-12, Hiranomachi Chuo-ku, Osaka City.
2003 January: ISO 14001 certification was acquired.
April: The Tokyo Branch was moved to 2-8,Uchikanda1-chome Chiyoda-ku,Tokyo.
July: The wing for manufacturing FL-7 and potassium fluoride was completed at the Sakai Plant.
October: The Kanzakigawa Plant acquired ISO 9001 certification.
November: A new company to manufacture hydrofluoric acid "currently Zhe jiang Morita New Materials Co., Ltd." was established in Zhejiang Province in China.
2004 January: A new company to manufacture electrolytes for lithium ion batteries "currently Morita New Energy Materials (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd." was established in the the Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park in China.
2006 May: The central office was moved to its current location (1-3, Kyutaromachi 4-chome Chuo-ku, Osaka City).
2009 February: Plant for increased semi-conductor flourine production completed.
2010 April: "FEM Technology Co., Ltd." was etablished in Asan City, South Korea, as a new company to produce etching and cleaning solutions for semiconductor and liquid chrystal manufacturing.
2017 March: The Tokyo branch was moved to 3-4-5 Nihonbashi Hon-cho, Chuo Ward, Tokyo.
April: Morita Chemical Industries Co., Ltd. marked the centennial of its founding.
2018 August: Morita Materials GmbH was established.
2022 December: The Tokyo branch was moved to the current site(1-6-5, Kudanminami, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).
2023 March: Morita Chemical Industries’ property was recognized as a “Chemical Heritage” under the auspices of the Chemical Society of Japan.
